When to use
Reach for SDXL Turbo when you want the cheapest, fastest image path: preview thumbnails, quick iteration, and very high-volume passes where per-image cost dominates. Existing OpenAI-SDK image code works with a base-URL swap.
When to use something else
SDXL is an older architecture; for modern fidelity, prompt adherence, and in-image text, prefer FLUX.1 Schnell or FLUX.2 Pro. Advanced controls aren't exposed through the basic OpenAI Images parameters yet.
